Meet Dr. Ulrich

“My practice is devoted solely to straightening teeth and improving the fit of the teeth by moving them into the most ideal positions possible. Because my focus is on orthodontic treatment alone, I can keep current with the most modern techniques, materials and treatments to achieve the best results possible. Because all we do is orthodontic treatment, we can do it easily and efficiently so patients have a very positive experience!” – Dr. Ulrich

Betsy Ulrich, D.D.S., M.S.

Dr. Ulrich earned her Doctorate of Dental Science from Northwestern University in 1995. Following dental school, she completed a two-year, post-doctorate residency at Northwestern, earning her specialty certificate in orthodontics and a master’s degree in the study of orthodontic treatment. At Northwestern, Dr. Ulrich was named the Alpha Omega Scholar for attaining the highest academic standing in her class and received several other awards for outstanding achievement.

Dr. Ulrich opened Sugar Creek Orthodontics in Lincoln in 2001 following a four-year associateship with Dr. Richard Sikora in Bloomington, Illinois. She moved her practice to its current location in 2006 after completely renovating the building to create a spacious, comfortable office for her patients.

Dr. Ulrich is a member of the American Dental Association and the American Association of Orthodontists. She is active in state and local outreach projects, having served as chairperson of the dental society’s Children’s Dental Health Month Committee. Dr. Ulrich is currently serving on the state dental society Public Relations Committee and as a trustee for the Illinois State Orthodontic Society. She is also a Board Member for the Midwest Technical Institute School of Dental Assisting.

Dr. Ulrich was born and raised in Lincoln, where her father was a family physician for over 30 years. She attended college at the University of Kentucky and the University of Colorado where she earned her bachelor’s degree. After living in Chicago for eight years and completing their educations, Dr. Ulrich and her husband, Ron Tomczak, chose to settle in Central Illinois. They live in rural Logan County where they have embarked upon a long-term prairie and woodland restoration project on their family farm. Ron and Betsy have two children: Diane, born in 2003, and Warren, born in 2006. Ron manages the practice, and they are fortunate to bring their children to the office as well. They have truly created a “family atmosphere” at Sugar Creek Orthodontics and enjoy treating patients like family as well!
